A marketing professional Charlotte’s background is in the administration field and as such, she was the Bahamas’ 2008 Administrative Professional of the Year (APOTY) and the 2018 Distinguished Administrative Professional of the Year (DAP) and held other distinctions both locally and internationally.
Charlotte is known for the philanthropic and altruistic work she does by helping young people achieve their scholastic dreams and goals. As a result, she has been awarded a grant by the Government of The Bahamas to expand her reach, she partners with several local corporate companies to identify students who need financial assistance, she has partnered with the new government to assist students on the Family Islands, hosts virtual college fairs for public and private schools and partnered with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated to facilitate a college readiness seminary. In addition to the aforementioned, several international universities have established a CKTAgency scholarship which range from 50% tuition to full scholarship to assist students.
In her spare time, (pre-COVID) she travelled to churches, youth groups and high schools around The Bahamas speaking to students about the importance of higher education. Since we are trying to coexist and navigate out of the current pandemic, she has been hosting a series of virtual college fairs featuring four universities each night since August and continues to do so to date.
To ensure students are given the best options of college, she has recently partnered a HBCU and other universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada to offer Bahamian students free applications and extra benefits to study at their school. She created a non-profit page on Facebook called ‘Say Yes to Scholarships & the Best Accredited Universities’ which introduces students to some of the best universities and identifies additional funding whether studying locally or internationally.
Charlotte was married to the late Brentwood Thompson and they have two (2) adult children who completed their degrees on full scholarships. Her son Blaine started his degree at University of The Bahamas but wanted a more hands on education so he transferred his credits to The Bahamas Technical & Vocational Institute where he graduated with a degree in Network Engineering with a concentration on Computer Information Systems with CompTia and A+ certifications and her daughter Blaire is a classically trained chef who received an associate degree in culinary arts and a bachelor’s degree in food service management from Johnson & Wales University and graduated in May 2021 with a master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration on full scholarship Kent State University in Kent Ohio.
